TribBlog: Fort Hood Shootings

A mass shooting Thursday at Fort Hood killed 13 and wounded at least 30. The Associated Press reports that the shooter, a soldier, is in critical condition at the hospital. As news unfolds, we'll be adding information from around the web to this post.

The alleged shooter, 39-year-old Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is a psychiatrist who was practicing at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, according to CNN. Previously he worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Federal officials are reporting that Hasan is a U.S. citizen of Jordanian descent. He was born in Virginia and never deployed out of the country.
